Case Study

The Client

I donated a brand identity package to the Center for Women & Enterprise for their 2021 silent auction. This led to an opportunity to work with a client who was looking for a logo to use on shirts, hard hats, stickers, and other brand-able items to help identify her and her role on building sites. In her line of work, a logo can be a powerful way to provide identification and communicate her role on the job site at the same time.

The Ask

Design a logo that clearly communicates the business name while striking a balance of experienced and friendly, unbiased and knowledgeable.

The Process

We discussed Twomey’s business objectives and values, along with a description of the role of “Clerk of the Works”. A couple of visual ideas came up right away. She mentioned that her grandfather, like herself, was an architect. She was able to scan their last name in his own handwriting to be explored as a concept. The other significant visual element was the drafting compass. In both concepts, I mocked up how the logos could appear on items such as hard hats, polo shirts, and a car.

The Results

Twomey was a positive and clear communicator — which allowed for minimal revisions. I delivered a brand toolkit, including horizontal and vertical versions of the logo and brand guidelines.
